THE COMPANY

THE CHALLENGE

The Inspection & Materials Engineering department is organized within the Business Line Advance. This department is working in a project and/or plant environment being responsible for applying the mechanical knowledge and experience in all relevant steps of the Equipment manufacturing process and relevant after Sales Services. The purpose of this Head of Inspections and Material Engineering is to manage Inspection & Materials engineering services in accordance with contractual conditions and to increase Stamicarbon’s IP position by making Inspectors and/or Specialists available for Innovation Projects. Also to manage the team, ensure teamwork, learning, development and engagement of team members.

Your Key areas of accountability/responsibility are to:

  • Find the correct balance between time pressure imposed on a project and business needs, quality and safety.
  • Ensure that the correct person is working on the correct job and guaranteeing the quality of the Safurex end products;
  • Ensure the exchange of Inspection and Material engineering knowledge between employees and departments involved with acquisition, design, construction and negotiations;
  • Organize the technical support during the acquisition phase.
  • Provide training and coaching to the team members; ensure development and learning
  • Act as intermediate with centers of expertise on matters relating to use of materials, welding, corrosion and prevention of corrosion;
  • Support and guide inspections of new built high pressure equipment, corrosion inspections in existing urea plants worldwide.
  • Challenge contractors, suppliers and customers on mechanical matters;
  • Assess manufacturers of technical equipment within the context of the “preferred vendor list”;
  • Manage the inspection expertise and manages external manufacturers during project execution;
  • Formulates improvements of a mechanical nature and records new knowledge in the Mechanical Engineering Design Manual and Work Processes Inspections;
  • Manages general (mechanical) specifications and equipment datasheets and challenges contractors, suppliers and customers on mechanical matter

THE CANDIDATE

You have an Academic thinking level, in Process or Mechanical engineering, and preferably In-depth knowledge within the Mechanical field of (Urea) high-pressure process installations, corrosion, welding, material use, equipment repairs, knowledge of contractors, equipment engineering processes, and the international contractor world. As a people manager of the Inspection & Material Engineering department it is crucial to have very good people management skills. You are a motivational leader with high level of professionalism, integrity and interpersonal and people skills. Actual experience as a Line Manager is nice to have but we are open to candidates who have strong potential to develop as a Line Manager. You have the capability to manage and develop your team and create an inspiring and inclusive work environment. Off course you have a very high standard in Safety and Environmental aspects within the chemical industry. This position requires a minimum of 10 years’ experience within an operational chemical, and/or Urea, factory environment where inspections and maintenance matters. Also, ample experience in international co-operations, negotiations and communications are needed for this very interesting opportunity. You are fluent in English, both spoken and written. The German language, both spoken and written would be very interesting.
