Research Technician (AP/LD)

SABIC is seeking a high energy, goal-focused individual who can support the research activities in our composites center in Geleen.

The Advanced Composites team is a global team targeting the development of thermoplastic composite solutions for SABIC, by introducing innovative and value added downstream products such as material forms for the market. It does so in close co-operation with the Composites Business Development team. The team is part of SABIC’s Specialties BU and continues to expand and grow with its main office in Geleen, The Netherlands, and additional personnel at various locations in Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Job Purpose & Responsibilities

• Support research activities on thermoplastic composites development
• Set-up and execute composites test methods, in particular mechanical testing
• Production of prepregs and laminates and execution of DoE’s
• Give feedback on critical steps in the process, and provide ideas for improvement to the development team
• Take part in technical meetings and safety initiatives
• Drive safe working practices
• Provide samples for customers
• Documentation of procedures and test protocols and keeping them up-to-date

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with hands-on experience with thermoplastic composites a self-motivated team player, able to work with an enthusiastic team in a flexible environment.

Key requirements include:

• Practical education (MBO level) in Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science or other relevant field.
• >5 years experience in a research environment.
• Expanded knowledge of composites.
• Good understanding of running processing equipment for production of composites pre-pregs and laminates
• Creative hands-on mentality and strong focus on results.
• Team player with good communication skills.
• Strict adherence to company safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
