European PROJECT MANAGER
Senior Specialist, Projects Planning & Control
The E&PM Department has a vision “to Deliver First Quartile Projects in EHSS, Quality, Cost & Schedule”. JOB PURPOSE:
- Innovate & Build Site Project Control excellence in line with & contributing to industry best practices
- Influences & Communicates best practices across sites.
- Lead continuous improvement of Project KPIs. (Schedule, Cost & Quality performance) - Leading change with a strategic focus for Europe.
- Lead interaction with all Site controllers - effective collaboration to drive results with a global outlook - providing Coaching and Training as required.
- Assess performance and drive improvement by motivating others using relationship management - Developing and Empowering people.
- Provide Global Project support in overall Project, Engineering and Construction Management with overall skills in analytical Thinking and Negotiations.
Responsibilities:
- Drive implementation of Project Controls in Europe and collaborate with other Global Regions.
- Evaluate capital expenditure and project proposals for readiness to execute.
- Project progress follow-up, analyse actual progress for early warnings on potential issues.
- Establish standard approach for Site monthly reports on physical progress and trends for each project.
- For Capital projects ensure estimate structure in place and follow up of estimates as required
- Develop and share tools to use (Cost, Planning and Resource planning) in areas of risk that has been identified by the business or various sites.
- Support Global projects as required in the areas of Cost Control, Planning and Progress analysis and basic support in Project, Engineering and Construction management and negotiations.
- Prepare, analyse and monitor performance of E&PM in Europe, both quantitative and qualitative via data/KPI’s, root cause analysis to challenge functions, identify areas of improvement and drive improvements as well as corrective actions.
- Benchmark performance of E&PM with both internal and external comparisons.
- Participate in risk identification & assessment, including development of mitigating actions.
- Implement, maintain and execution of policies and ensure compliance with relevant policies and legal requirements
- Provide Teaching and Coaching to Europe site project controllers as required to meet business objectives
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ability to influence SABIC Europe and Global Partner(s)
- Ability to balance supportive/steering activities at Site and European level including go to for Advice by local manager(s)
- Ability to work and influence in multi-cultural, diverse Global Community whilst aligning with local and global policy and legal directives
- Ability to promote local and global corporate values
- Strong Entrepreneurial and Business Acumen working cross business and function(s)
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree in Technical Engineering, Business Administration or Business Economics
- A minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in the petrochemicals Business or in an industrial environment including 5 to 8 years of Project Planning & Control or Project Management experience
- Sound knowledge of standards, policies, procedures and best practices in the areas of Engineering & Project Management.
- Strong business & technical acumen, sound quantitative & analytical and planning & organizing skills
- Well-acquainted with the needs of an industrial and projects environment and experienced in Project Planning & Control and Performance Management concepts, tools and software applications.
- Excellent Conceptual, Communication and Analytical Skills
- Fluency (both written and Oral) in English (additional European language(s) a bonus
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills along with a solid ability to influence effectively and to deal with cultural differences.
- Self-starter with an open mindset, a strong drive and can-do mentality and eagerness to drive performance excellence and improvements
Location: Bergen op Zoom or Geleen, The Netherlands
Travel: 25% (regionally and globally)
