DEPARTMENT

SABIC Global Procurement Services (GPS) manages the procurement of all materials and services for SABIC manufacturing plants and affiliates globally. In Europe, GPS covers 12 manufacturing sites and one technology center in 7 countries with a total spend of more than 1 billion euro annually.

GPS Europe is organized in three regional teams for Category Management and at each site a local procurement team for operational procurement processes. One of the Category teams is focused on Energy and Utilities, in which we have an exciting opening for a Commercial Manager Procurement Energy.

The role reports to the Sr. Manager, Procurement Europe for Energy and Utilities and will work as part of a regional team of Procurement professionals, engaging with senior management roles in Europe.


JOB PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES

This exciting role gives you the opportunity to manage the sourcing of energy and utilities for SABIC in Europe to maximise and optimise business value and support the development and implementation of an optimum portfolio for energy and utilities across SABIC’s European sites.

You will be the focal point for key stakeholders and strategic suppliers and in that sense the ‘owner’ of the category, its contracts and supplier relationships.

The category scope covers a range of supplies for our manufacturing assets operation such as heat, fuels, electricity, water and technical industrial gases. Managing the commercial and technical relationship with our on-site energy & utilities and exploiting on-site synergies is also part of the scope of this category. You will be responsible for identifying and delivering energy improvement opportunities (e.g. lower cost, lower usage, monetising waste streams) with external suppliers, distribution/transportation companies etc and internally with the wider manufacturing and site improvement teams.

As Commercial Manager Procurement Energy you lead the implementation of the regional category plans. You have the chance to create significant value to SABIC by challenging existing ways of working and introducing creative & new sourcing solutions.

You manage supplier performance, business continuity risks and annual spend (~200 million euro) in a balancing act to optimize the value for SABIC against lowest costs and you will also support in development of SABIC’s external advocacy & lobbying activities in the areas of European energy policy development, regulation and legislation related to the sourcing, transportation and distribution of energy supplies.

Main tasks include:
•  Implement SABIC’s strategy with respect to commodity risk management, aligning the strategy and boundary conditions with the key stakeholders in the SBU’s, Manufacturing and SABIC Capital.?

•  Proactively develop an extensive market intelligence expertise ensuring appropriate relationships with industry peers, suppliers, regulators, consultants and market reporters in order to develop models and scenario’s of future policy and market development impact on SABIC.

•  Lead, jointly with the Energy Technology Manager, site energy leaders and Manufacturing Centre of Excellence (MCE), the development and exploitation of site synergies with other site or industry partners to ensure SABIC’s competitive position is maximized whilst minimizing potential investment in alternative solutions.

•  Conduct benchmarking of energy & utility costs across regional and global sites and industry peers to ensure that SABIC is obtaining the maximum commercial leverage and lowest cost position.

•  Proactively engage with global functions to explore and exploit synergies and leverage SABIC’s global position with respect to energy sourcing. Proactively engage with global functions to explore and exploit synergies and leverage SABIC’s global position with respect to energy sourcing.

•  Represent SABIC’s interests at , EU trade associations and sectors groups, EU energy industry consumer representative groups, national regulatory agencies and where required with customers and suppliers ensuring SABIC interests are promoted for the sourcing and development of energy and utilities.

•  Lead and deliver to sanction business cases for energy and utilities improvement projects in coordination with the manufacturing sites and Business Units

REQUIREMENTS
•  Commercial and/or Engineering Master Degree
•  At least 10 years’ experience within purchasing or sales & marketing in energy, oil/refining, petrochemicals or related areas or a comparable commercial role.
•  Significant experience in commercial negotiations, contract management and strategy development
•  Highly developed influencing skills both internal and external.
•  Knowledge of technical aspects of energy generation and supply.
•  Knowledge of energy/petrochemical businesses and market research methodologies.
•  Results driven, goal orientated working style
•  Experience in working with people with different cultures and backgrounds.
•  Flexibility to travel across Europe up to 25% of the time.
•  Fluent in English; German speaker is a plus.
