Lonza are currently recruiting for a Group Lead for Analytical Development to join the team based in Geleen. The role will be responsible for management of the mRNA Analytical Development group. Lead a team of scientific and analytical experts responsible for the successful development and optimization of analytical methods to support process development and manufacturing activities in the area of mRNA.

Key responsibilities:

• Leads a team of managers, scientists and research associates for analytical development within the mRNA Process Development Services with full responsibility for all aspects of human resource management such as qualification, development, coaching, hiring, pay decisions and discipline issues.
• Responsible for resource and vacation planning of the assigned team members with regard to the fulfillment of all customer orders.
• Ensures a good information exchange from the upper management levels to his/her team and the other way around through regularly team meetings and escalation of issues.
• Implements the LONZA culture via openness for change and new ideas, cooperative teamwork and continuous improvement even outside the own area of responsibility
• Responsible for the organization, technical assessment and prioritization of the analytical development work to support development programs and the production units.
• Coordinates various customer projects in his/her assigned group.

Key requirements:

• Expert in the area of large molecule QC and analytical method development. Deep understanding of protein biochemistry
• Good understanding of business and financial processes
• Strong leadership skills
• Ability to communicate internally and externally at higher levels; strong business understanding Strong team orientation
• Structured and proactive working attitude
• Open-minded for new ideas
