The site in Geleen, Netherlands | Lonzais growing and we are currently looking for an Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager who develops, oversees and implements local EHS policies and programs to improve Lonza's sustainability and safety performance, and meet local legislative and regulatory requirements. Also implements corporate initiatives to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and to ensure that facilities are in compliance with regulations.

Key responsibilities:

• Assure EHS and security performance at a site level and sets goals for continuous improvement. This may include reducing accidents and injuries, minimizing emissions, recycling waste, delivering training programs
• Develop policies and procedures to meet EHS targets.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend changes to technology, equipment, systems, or processes to improve EHS performance
• Ensures that site activities are in compliance with local legislation and Chemelot Campus regulations.
• Provides expert technical guidance to team, employees, colleagues and site management
• Respond to inspections from authorities and Chemelot campus organization and report to the LNL Site Head
• Duties of a Biosafety Officer (BSO) as per EU law either directly or supervising the BSO function. All items above related to EHS also applies to biosafety.

Key requirements:

• MS or PhD in Microbiology, Biochemistry or related areas, EHS certification will be an advantage
• Relevant experience preferable in industrial production, in microbiological and laboratory safety; additionally experience in a cell culture lab and/or in medical area is a plus
• Knowledge of national biosafety and Chemelot Campus guidelines and regulations.
• Intrinsic motivation to promote a proactive culture of safety and compliance and accounting for biosafety
• Take initiative, be organized and be able to manage multiple priorities in a timely manner
• Fluency in English and preferable in Dutch
