Lonza is looking for a CAPEX Lead for mRNA and Mammalian. The CAPEX Lead is responsible for the design, execution and hand-over of CAPEX large investment projects in SGIE Netherlands/Belgium within safety, cost, schedule, quality and functionality. This includes the capability to manage and to provide the leadership to a multinational project team as well the capability to interact with the senior management. This role is at a Senior Manager level and has operative leadership of large CAPEX projects. This is an engineering discipline role. You will have cross interaction with validation engineers, facility management, and operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Establish the project CAPEX charter including scope of work, goals and deliverables together with the relevant project champion to support business objectives in collaboration with site level senior management and stakeholders
  • Develop the project execution strategy and to set-up the contractual framework
  • Ensure that the adequate project control systems needed to manage the risk, cost and schedule are timely in place
  • Conduct regular engineering and project control reviews with the project team in order to ensure that the project execution is on track (safety, quality, cost & schedule) and to identify and implement remedial action(s) in case of any deviation from project objectives
  • Identifying and managing project dependencies and mapping the critical path and define/implement overall project resources (internal and external) and to provide daily leadership
  • Identifying and recommending the internal and / or external resources to reach the project goals and managing day-to-day operational aspects of projects.
  • Ensure the implementation of the state-of-the-art technical solutions and to ensure compliance with internal and external quality, safety and ecology standards

Key requirements:

  • Engineering degree within chemical, mechanical, process, pharmaceutical, biochemical engineering or equivalent or long time and in-depth project management or operational experience in multiple international environments
  • Extensive engineering experience thereof some years in capital projects in international environment
  • Extensive experience and expertise in the field of site/ facility/ process and utility functionality, setup and layout.
  • Knowledge of current technology in the field of Biologics; building technology, mammalian manufacturing processes and utility technologies.
  • International or regional experience strongly desired.
  • Experience in cGMP regulatory requirements.
  • Fluency in Dutch and English is required, German and French would be preferred
