About the job

Humanity has always had the power to imagine. For the longest time, digital humans used to be the domain of science fiction. However, with current technology virtual avatars are becoming reality.

Dephion is looking for a character artist with an eye for texturing that can push the quality of our realistic 3D avatars to the next level. We are crafting digital humans on a variety of platforms. From mobile, to web, to high-end PC, we want the most realistic looking virtual avatar out there.

We are a diverse, international group of super nerds headquartered in the heart of Limburg. Our digital humans are used to provide a human friendly interface to innovative health and wellbeing solutions.

With a flat management structure and quality-driven development, Dephion is a high-tech playground for tomorrow’s stars.

Responsibilities:

• Crafting digital humans on a variety of platforms, from mobile to web to high end pc via our own workflow called TALOS.
• Together with a team of modelers, animators, and programmers you will be working on improving the graphics and realism of our virtual avatars.
• This includes working with photogrammetry scan data, creating haircards, creating pbr textures, texture baking and baking lighting into textures.

We are currently working on multiple projects using Unity and threeJS for web-based applications.

Who you are:

• You have a great artistic eye
• You understand the PBR texturing pipeline.
• You have full working knowledge in either Substance, Mari, Armorpaint, Photoshop, Marmoset, or all of them of course.
• You are not afraid of photogrammetry scan data.
• You have a strong background in anatomy.
• You have strong visual skills, and a good eye for detail, scale, composition, colour and form.
• You know how to model, sculpt and retopologize.
• Self driven, able to offer solutions to challenging problems.
• You have an exciting portfolio.

Big Plusses:

• Experience with Xgen
• Experience with Wrap3d
• Experience with Photogrammetry / 3D Scanning
• Knowledge of FACS.
• Prior experience with Unity and threeJS.
• Familiar with common rendering workflows and a scripting background
• Experience with dynamic hair simulation, and common industry standard solvers
• Strong appreciation for procedural workflows and previous experience in other related disciplines
